This was the first step in the growing cycle of violence between Samson and the Philistines. Clearly, Samson reacted out of rage. I think most of us would agree that Samson had good reason for being angry. How he handled his anger, however, is another issue. Samson’s reaction to being wronged by his father-in-law led him to war with the Philistines. For many of us, anger is part of who we are. But it is what we do in our anger that will have lasting effects. Ephesians 4:26 reminds us, “When you are angry, do not let that anger make you sin” (paraphrase). When you find yourself angry, choose carefully how to respond.
