—Genesis 29:1-14
by: Dorothy Noel.
Jacob was charged by his father to find a wife from among his relatives (Genesis 28:2). When he found them, he wept (v.11) and was quickly invited into their home (v.14). Even though Jacob had never met these people, there was an obvious connection between them, stemming from their shared family history. While Jacob’s position as one of God’s people was through the blood-line of Abraham, our position is through Jesus’ sacrifice (Galatians 3:6-14). How can we welcome our brothers and sisters in Christ with the same hospitality Laban showed to Jacob?
