—Acts 10:34-43
by: Dorothy Noel.
This was the first time Peter had preached to people who were not Jewish. In a time where race and religion defined social classes and separated society, this was a big step. Slowly, the words of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit had shown Peter that, “God is not one to show partiality” (v. 34). As much as this sermon shared the gospel with Cornelius, it was also an opportunity for Peter to aver that his faith in Christ was more important than his Jewish heritage. As we share the gospel, may we, like Peter, focus on the gospel over our heritage.
