—Mark 8:31-9:1

Jesus knowing that He was going to die was one thing; having to explain His assured death to His closest friends was another. Jesus spoke of His death to His disciples, not only to prepare them for what would become of Him, but also to explain that His death meant their life. It was not an easy pill for the disciples to swallow, as we see in Peter’s rebuke of Jesus (v.32). Then, Jesus explained once again that what was to come was the will of God the Father. His death would not be the end. Why do you think Peter rebuked Jesus the way he did? How is Jesus’ response to Peter an important lesson for us?
