—1 Corinthians 11:23-26
by: Gabrielle Andries.
Paul wrote this to the Corinthians to rebuke their behavior and remind them of the purpose of the Lord’s Supper. The people of Corinth were using the Lord’s Supper as a means of feasting and getting drunk. It is not a party and should not be treated as such. Taking communion is so much more than a ritualistic tradition. It is a time for followers of Christ to remember His sacrifice. It is also a time for us to reverently and publicly acknowledge the covenant made between God and believers. Listen to Paul’s words and make sure you are treating the Lord’s Supper (and the Savior behind it) with the reverence it deserves.
