—Genesis 45:1-15
by: Dorothy Noel.
Finally! Joseph revealed himself to his brothers! I cannot imagine the flood of emotions they all felt! For the brothers, there was uncertainty about what Joseph would do with them. He had already thrown them in jail once (42:17) but had also feasted with them (43:34). What would he do now? Joseph could have exacted retribution, or even rubbed in their faces that his dreams were fulfilled in their bowing before him. Instead, Joseph pointed back to God, the orchestrator of all things. While selling their brother was certainly a sin, God had plans to preserve His people and used this opportunity to better prepare them for the future. May we be reminded that God’s work is outside our comprehension and lean into His grace in all circumstances.
