Lydia, a seller of purple fabrics, was described as a “worshiper of God” (Acts 16:14). She received the gospel and made sure her entire household was saved and baptized. With her family saved, she invited Paul and Silas to stay in her home. No one told her to do this. She displayed hospitality from a heart of love and devotion to God. Paul and Silas returned to her home after they were released from jail and found other brethren there. Lydia is a model for us to follow. As God opens our hearts to receive Christ, may we lovingly practice hospitality with our brethren.
