And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Have you ever wanted something, but you never verbalized your desire? If you want a snack that your brother has, how will he know that you want it if you do not ask? Unlike a brother, God knows what we want without us verbalizing it. However, when we reach out to God with our wants, needs, and concerns, it shows Him that we trust Him completely and rely on Him fully. As a parent, when our child wants something, we want to give it to them. If sinful humans feel this way towards their children, wouldn’t the perfect loving Father do the same and better for us?
