—John 16:1-15
by: Gabrielle Watt.
Jesus gave His disciples a warning: Not only was He going to leave, but some terrible things were going to happen once He left. Imagine hearing these things and then hearing Jesus say, “It is for your good that I am going away.” How could Jesus leaving them be a good thing? Although He was going away, Jesus was not leaving them helpless or alone. If it was not previously clear that help was and is necessary to navigate life, this passage removes all doubt. It is why Jesus sent the Holy Spirit. What did Jesus mean when He said the Spirit “will guide you into all the truth” (v.13)?
