—Isaiah 30:18-26
by: Gabrielle Watt.
In the first part of chapter 30, the nation of Judah was reprimanded for making plans without God, looking to Egypt for protection instead of God, and rebelling against God. Yet, we see that God wanted to be gracious and show compassion to them (v.18). Isaiah told Judah that God would hear their cries and respond immediately, that He would guide them, they would put away their idols to trust the promises of God, and they would be blessed and healed by Him. How does God simultaneously show justice and mercy? What does this passage teach us about God’s character?
