—Colossians 3:12-17
by: Trisha Gerstel.
Whenever I perform a task thinking of my own reputation, I act in a very un-Christian manner. Fearing that anything less than perfection will decrease my worth in other people’s eyes, I become controlling, short-tempered, and argumentative. However, when I “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Colossians 3:17), and focus on glorifying the Lord, I realize that “less than perfect” might be exactly what He wants, because it is how He plans to bless a fellow believer, or even to call someone outside the faith. When I serve myself, I reap a fleshly crop; when I serve the Lord, He is glorified.
