—1 Samuel 19: 8-12
by: Kennedy Ochs.
It is striking to see the effect jealousy had on King Saul. He began his rule well—serving the Lord and finding good favor with the people. But as we read on, we see Saul shift. His focus changed. Instead of staying aligned with God, he allowed his jealousy to rule his actions. He could not bear to see David rise to power and become allied with his son and daughter. He could feel his kingdom slipping through his fingers. His feelings about David began to take over and he became lost in his anger and frustration. Be on the lookout to make sure your feelings about people and circumstances do not ever shift your focus from the Lord.
