—Genesis 6:1-8
by: Dorothy Noel.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “I’m not angry with you, I’m disappointed”? This always makes me feel worse than pure wrath. Early in humanity’s history, we feel God’s disappointment over the evil of His creation. He made this beautiful world with brilliant creatures to care for it and yet, here they were, acting in their own interest. As we know from Matthew 6:24, any time we act for ourselves outside of God, we act against Him. Even though the humans described in this passage are so far removed from ourselves, we still recognize that same desire to act in our own interest in our hearts. Thank God that in His mercy, He also created a “But” (v.8).
