—Matthew 11:7-19
by: Steve Osborn.
People brought many accusations against both Jesus and John because they refused to conform to society’s preconceived notions about how they should act. Jesus pointed out the folly of trying to please “the world” because of the fickleness of its expectations, saying, “Wisdom is vindicated by her deeds” (v.19). In other words, instead of worrying about what others thought, they would let the results of what they did speak for themselves. This is wisdom for all of us to live by. Do not let the criticisms of the world shape what you do, say, or believe. Seek true wisdom from Scripture and live your life in a way that honors God. The results will speak for themselves.
