It is easy to get thrown off course in our spiritual walk, isn’t it? The hour or two we spend in church and the daily devotional time we might or might not have, is not much compared to all the hours in our week spent on other things. Thankfully, our spiritual growth and maturity is not on our shoulders alone. In Ephesians 2:8, we are told, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” (ESV). We cannot work our way to better spiritual growth solely on our own. But we can remain open to God’s voice and His work in and through us. Standing firm in the Spirit requires trusting God to make us His.
