“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.

What a stinging indictment against the teachers of the Law. How important is it for us to practice what we teach? We must get head knowledge of the Scriptures into the heart. Too often, churches spend time and resources conducting evangelistic meetings and bringing individuals into the Kingdom of God, but fail to disciple them, resulting in individuals leaving worse than they came in. Not only do we fail to teach them, but we ourselves fail to grow into the kingdom of God. We fail to “walk the talk,” so the newly converted becomes like the seed in Matthew 13:5-7. How are you promoting the Gospel?
