Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king.

We do not know the plans the Lord has for our family and what tomorrow will bring for us. Our duty is to care for each other now so that the plans God has can come true. We may be caring for the ancestors of an important participant in God’s will. Did all of Jesus’ ancestors know what was to come for their family? Most likely not, but without their dedication to the family they had in their time, what would have happened to Jesus’ family tree? We may not know the true meaning of what God has asked of us in this moment, but it could mean we are helping to bring the Savior to the world.
