—Isaiah 10:12-14
by: Paula Davis.
In a letter written on October 29, 1777, Samuel Adams stated, “Give credit to whom credit due.” I doubt Mr. Adams had any idea how many times his phrase would be repeated and adapted through the coming centuries! We humans can become consumed with receiving credit and boasting of our achievements, when the truth is that nothing we have and nothing we accomplish would be if not for God. He deserves all the credit and, if necessary, will hold us accountable for our boastfulness, just as He did the Assyrians in this passage. Using our talents and gifts for God’s glory is a wonderful thing. It pleases Him very much. Just be careful to remember to whom credit is due!
