For a people living in the desert, a grain offering was probably more meaningful than it would be for most people today. First of all, where would they get the grain? It was likely grain brought from Egypt, making it a limited resource Perhaps it was grain they intended to use as seed when they entered Canaan, making it a precious commodity. Next, consider the time it would take to finely grind the grain and prepare it according to these instructions. To offer it to the Lord was to offer something that was not only of great value but something from their hopes for the future.
