—1 Thessalonians 2:9-13
by: Richard Crouch.
Our approach to evangelism is important because we want to make sure that our message is received in the right way. Paul pointed out that the Thessalonians accepted the message for what it really was, the word of God (v. 13). The Thessalonians could see that Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy were devout, upright, and blameless by their actions, and so accepted their message as being the word of God, not men. If our actions and attitudes don't back up our words, then the effectiveness of our witness is severely undermined.
