—Mark 16:1-8
by: Andrew J. Camenga.
God provided glorious visions of majesty and splendor to many of his prophets. Ezekiel saw creatures with wheels in wheels. John saw images of the throne room of God. Solomon and Isaiah saw the glory of God in his temple. Dominion, authority, power, and might were demonstrated with loud noise, flashing lights, gigantic walls, and the tremendous praise made by myriads of creatures.
One might expect the resurrection of Jesus to be accompanied by signs and wonders that outstrip the visions recorded by the prophets. This was the moment that proved the plan of God. Yet, no one saw the resurrection. Instead, his followers found an empty tomb, received instructions, and were afraid.
Fear prevailed when victory was announced.
