—Mark 5:21-34

While there are times when I am easily distracted, there are also times when I have an intensity of focus that causes everything else to disappear. I have picked up a book to read for "just a few minutes" and continued reading until the book was complete. On a few occasions, when working on a project or a problem, I will all of a sudden realize that I've missed lunch, supper, bed-time, and half the night.
Much has been written and said about the unclean status of the woman who touched Jesus. She should not have been mingling with a crowd. She should have been declaring her unclean status. She should never have touched Jesus. Yet, as important as those details are, notice today the intensity of her focus. She became convinced that Jesus could rescue her from the illness. Once convicted, all she saw was Jesus. The rest of the world faded from sight. She reached out and touched him.
