—Mark 5:35-43
by: Andrew J. Camenga.
After convincing Jesus to come and save his daughter, Jairus had the heart-wrenching experience of watching the savior stop the crowd and ask, "Who touched me?" Scripture records that the disciples couldn't fathom this question in the circumstances. We can only imagine the reaction of Jairus. Salvation was racing to his home only to be stopped by a jostling in the crowd. Before Jesus restarted his journey, the daughter was reported dead.
Belief can be hard. It is easier to expect the miraculous restoration of a withered arm than to fathom restoration of an amputated arm. It is easier to expect healing when the healer is present in the room than when he is across town. It is easier to foresee an illness being removed than to foresee death dying. Yet, Jesus offered hope and brought restoration.
