—Isaiah 66:10-14
by: Richard Crouch.
I have a good relationship with my young boys. We wrestle, snuggle, and read stories together. They're always excited to see me when I get home from work, and I'm excited to see them. But as good as my relationship is with them, I can't comfort them the way their mother can. In this passage, Isaiah describes how God will comfort Jerusalem the way a mother comforts a child. It's interesting that God, a father, compares his awesome ability to comfort with that of a mother. He's describing something heavenly in earthly terms that we can understand.
