—Joel 2:12-17
by: Grace Crouch.
I remember sitting at the table with my father's stern and disapproving eyes looking into mine. I had no excuse. I had disobeyed his rules. He doled out the expected sentence and told me he loved me and expected better from now on. Nothing hurt more than knowing that I had disappointed my father. I wanted to go to my room and cry.
When we repent for our actions, our heart still hurts because we know that we have disappointed our Heavenly Father. The Lord says to return to him with all our hearts. Fasting, weeping, and mourning are a natural byproduct of repentance. They are physical attributes of an inner hurt.
