—2 Chronicles 30:13-20

As people gathered in worship for the Passover celebration, not everyone had consecrated themselves by the rituals called for by the Law. Still, these people were not excluded from the worship celebration, but rather regarded as special by Hezekiah, who prayed that those who were seeking after God would be forgiven for their ritual uncleanness. Most Christians do not follow the various cleansing rituals prescribed in the Law, but we frequently have an unwritten code of what is acceptable—what dress is appropriate for church services, how a person should look or speak. Do we have the courage with Hezekiah to invite people who don’t meet these standards, but are seeking him, into our worship?
