—Acts 17:10-15
by: Susan Bond.
Each winter, just before the promises of spring manifest themselves, we prune our apple trees, trees that have produced sweet fruit for the family for five generations. We look for branches that have grown so close to one another that they overlap. We cut them back so that the sunlight can reach all the branches.
Separation from ones we love can be like a pruning. Rather than pining away and letting the separation stunt our growth, we can look to the Son, expecting our growth to be stimulated. It was following his separation from Silas and Timothy that Paul gave one of his most glorious speeches.
