—John 19:6-12
by: Andrew J. Camenga.
Jesus did not need a defender. He was more powerful than any situation he could ever face. Yet, he chose to relinquish that power and place his life in the hands of Pilate. In those hands, his innocence was proclaimed and his life was still in jeopardy.
Jesus does not need a defender. Yet, he gave to us the responsibility of proclaiming his plan for the world. Pilate, in the face of the opposition, proclaimed the innocence of Jesus and tried to set him free. Without taking on the mantle of "Saviors of the world," we must be bolder than Pilate was. Proclaim the glory of Christ in the face of opposition.
