—Nehemiah 2:6-10
by: Angie Osborn.
God provided a way for Nehemiah to serve-he opened the king's heart. Nehemiah was allowed to have some "vacation time." If I imagine myself in Nehemiah's place, I would see myself taking the "yes" and running out of there before the king could change his mind. Nehemiah, however, did not stop with permission to go. He presented the king with a needed supplies list. Obviously, Nehemiah had thought through his mission and had a plan. I think we can learn from this example. When God calls us to serve him, we need a plan. We need to think through the details of the cause to which he has called us, and we need to be prepared. That can apply to so many of the "little things" we do. Do you plan ahead for Sabbath School; do you come to meetings with an agenda and a direction? How could a plan improve your service to the King?
