—Nehemiah 2:11-15
by: Angie Osborn.
Nehemiah's description of the walls creates a truly hopeless picture! The walls are destroyed! Imagine how discouraging it must have been for Nehemiah to see what he was up against in attempting to rebuild the walls.
As I was reading this passage, the part that struck me was in verse 12, ". God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem.." Yes, the condition of the walls was terrible. Yes, rebuilding them would be a monumental task. Yet, Nehemiah held on to the fact that God had put the desire to rebuild them in his heart. Because he knew God was leading him, he could face a seemingly impossible task with confidence and assurance.
