Our own relative insignificance can overtake us. The house I live in has been a house longer that I have been. Unless you were born in the 1800s, it was erected before you. There are living, growing trees that predate that house. Some were around when this land fought the American Revolution-some may even date back to the start of the European Dark Ages. Before any of those trees had started their long lives, mountain ranges poked their heads so high that nothing wanted to live on their peaks. This planet has been around for thousands of years, and we struggle to make a century. Yet, before all this was, God is. After the mountains have worn away or been shattered by the word of God, he will be. I stand and sit, wake and sleep, in awe of the Creator.
