—James 1:9-12

Yesterday I saw a recipe for Wacky Cake: you poke three holes in the batter. In one you pour oil, in one vanilla, and in one vinegar. Eeks! We're okay until we get to the vinegar, yes? Blended together this cake should come out just right. It's the process through which it goes that sounds wacky.
James wrote that whether rich or poor, we should rejoice; and whether rich or poor, we will experience the oven of trial. Blending his thoughts together, we might conclude that the way to endure the oven is to rejoice. Rejoice always-even when it's time for the vinegar (Consider Philippians 4:12,13).
