—Psalm 86:1-13
by: Gem Barton.
Have you ever felt as though the walls are closing in on you and that there is no way out? King David was probably feeling the same way when he wrote this psalm. He was pleading with God to have mercy on him. He had the blessing of knowing God’s faithfulness from his youth when he was faced with wild animals. In verses 10 and 13, the psalmist appealed to God’s character as the reason he knew God could answer his prayer. When we are experiencing troubled times, we have to call on God, who alone can help. Remember, He majors in making the impossible possible and He promised never to leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
