—Hebrews 10:1-10
by: Gabrielle Osborn.
I am a perfectionist by nature. In school, I always wanted to get an A and I would beat myself up when I earned anything less. Unlike my grade point average, which I could work to keep high, we cannot earn God’s grace. Hebrews 10:1-10 tells us that regardless of how perfectly we follow the Old Testament Law, there is nothing that we can do to earn our own salvation. Our grace has been bought by Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. This does not mean that we should not strive to follow God’s commandments, but rather that we should do so out of gratefulness and obedience, rather than trying to gain our salvation through our actions.
