Today’s modern world is considered diverse and inclusive. Many people celebrate the fact that all religions supposedly lead towards God. To proclaim a salvation message of exclusivity is considered arrogant and hateful. Paul, in Athens, had it just right. He acknowledged that his listeners were religious people and recognized they were attempting to find hope in a deity of some kind. The decisive difference with Christ is that “he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead” (v. 31, ESV). This is truly Good News, yet it is also bad news for those who do not repent and receive Jesus as Savior and Lord.
