“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me,”—do we really mean this? We all understand the power of words—power to tear down or build up, to hurt or heal. How I would love to be able to echo the words of Isaiah and “know how to sustain with a word him who is weary” (v.4, ESV)! Isaiah did not do it from his own abilities, but through the wisdom of God. Isaiah was confident in the Lord, and secure that God had his back, so to speak. Let’s pray about how God can use us to reach others—to speak into their lives—as His wisdom works through us.'
