Once we invite Satan into our life, he takes up residence. We must say what Jesus said, “Get thee behind me Satan.” Uriah had showed his loyalty to Israel’s army and to the king. David, however, did not show loyalty to his King, Yahweh. By taking Uriah’s wife, David’s sin progressed from envy, lust, covetousness, deceit, lying, and adultery all the way to murder. What was the challenge in all of this for Bathsheba? Did she have an option? At what point was her faith challenged? Could she have objected to being David’s wife? The God-given consequence for their sin was the death of the child who did not commit any sin. Is that justice?
