—Nehemiah 13:23-27
by: Gem Barton.
King Solomon was an example of a great king who was loved by God but was turned away from God by his choice of foreign women. He built altars to their gods and lost his love for God as he grew older (1 Kings 11:1-11). Nehemiah remembered that this had caused problems for the kingdom of Israel, so if he seemed angry, it was for this reason. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, the Apostle Paul warned about believers engaging in relationships with unbelievers. Very often, like with King Solomon, these relationships end with the believer losing their relationship with God rather than bringing the unbeliever into fellowship with God.
