Water is essential to all living things. Without it they wither and become fruitless. The psalmist described the righteous man and what it means for him to be planted by the river. He does not walk with the wicked; he is not seated with the scornful; and he delights in the Law of God. In doing these things, the righteous will always prosper. He contrasted this to what happens to the wicked who do not follow in the ways of God. As we strive to be righteous, we can take comfort that God is watching over us. The wicked will have their reward.'
