—Psalm 49:1-4, 16-20
by: Katie Brown.
The world values and praises people of wealth and power. Psalm 49 warns against putting trust in worldly possessions, which will not follow us after we die. And the psalmist instructed God’s people not to be jealous or afraid of others who gather wealth and glory in this life. Everything in this world will pass away while God and His kingdom will remain forever. Money cannot save a person from their sins and riches cannot give the joy and peace of a life in Christ. It is foolishness to believe that riches are more valuable than following God’s will for our lives.
