—1 Corinthians 4:7-21
I love the humanness in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians. The irony he used, the exasperation I can feel coming from his words—it reminds me of a parent with an untoward child. There is so much love there, but sometimes it takes a strong stance to bring about discipline. Paul juxtaposed the comfort the Corinthians had been living in with his condition while actively sharing the gospel. This begs the question: Who was in the right? Paul reminded his readers that words are meaningless without the work of the Holy Spirit, and sent a guide to help the Corinthians get back on track. Even in His strong words, Paul demonstrated a great love for these people—as much by his actions as his words.'
