—Matthew 1:18-25

There is nothing in this account to suggest any doubting or questioning on the part Joseph. Having learned of Mary’s pregnancy, he was likely feeling betrayed, hurt, angry, and confused. He was understandably considering a legal divorce to end their betrothal. After the dream, only Joseph’s actions were recorded: “He did as the angel of the Lord commanded.” There is no sign of any doubt or contemplation on his part. God gave Joseph a command and he followed it. How often do doubts, fears, feelings, and insecurities get in the way when God asks for our obedience?
