—Hebrews 2:5-8b
by: Margaret Taylor.
God created angels—supernatural beings to serve Him. They have never had authority over creation. God created Adam to have authority over the earth, but he was not supernatural. Both man and angels are created subject to God’s authority. Through rebellion and disobedience both one third of the angels and mankind lost favor with God. In God’s plan to redeem us, Jesus emptied himself of His divine nature and took on human nature, living out Adam’s failed assignment by taking authority over His rebellious creation. Through His obedience, even to death on the cross, Jesus reconciled us to the Father. Through it all, the faithful angels ministered to Him as well as to mankind, glorifying God throughout His plan of reconciliation.
