—Psalm 51:1-9
by: Gem Barton.
After the prophet Nathan confronted King David about his sinful act which he committed against one of his trusted officers, David asked God for forgiveness. He penned the words of this psalm. King David recognized that his sin was against God and he begged God for mercy (v.4). He appealed to God’s faithfulness and pleaded with God to blot out his transgressions. Our God is a god of judgment, but He is also a God of mercy. Whenever you feel that you have walked away from God’s precepts and ordinances, come back to Him, repent, and seek His forgiveness.
