—Luke 4:22-30
by: Jennifer Lewis Berg.
People in Jesus’ own hometown were not convinced that He was anything more than one of their own, the son of Joseph the carpenter. They wanted Jesus to perform miracles for them as He had done in other places. But He was not going to oblige because He wanted them to believe in Him, not just His miracles. Suspicion and doubt in a familiar place cannot be overturned. No performance was going to change the hearts of these people. Jesus knew why they were insisting and when He did not comply, their hearts became hard and their anger raged against Him. What will it take for you to believe in Him?
