—Romans 8:18-25
by: Joy Choquette.
“I hope I can make it.” The word “hope” is often used to signify our intentions. Yet in this passage, Paul spoke about a different kind of hope, requiring only our acceptance of the gift of grace. “For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope” (v.24). This passage reminds us that hope—like faith—must be believed in and practiced, even when we see no evidence of its presence. “Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen,” says Hebrews 11:1. Today, will you pray for God’s hope to infiltrate your heart?
