The thought of confronting a fellow Christian about their words or deeds is disquieting. We fear that they will think of us as a judgmental jerk, or that the situation will strain our friendship so badly that it breaks. Mutual discipline is, however, an important part of God’s design for the church. If the Lord speaks to our hearts and tells us that we need to address a brother’s or sister’s actions, we must remember to do so with love and gentleness. We also must remember that God does not call us to speak our own words, but His.
