—Psalm 57
by: Dale Rood.
This psalm was written by David when he was fleeing from Saul, hiding in the caves of Engedi. Recently, I was in Israel and saw those caves. They are high up rocky canyon walls, which certainly lends a visual reinforcement to the safety and security David felt in the Lord at that time. But this psalm can apply to any situation we find ourselves in during any age. The theme applicable both then and now is that God is in control and we need to acknowledge His work behind the scenes. These are not problems we fix on our own. Our responsibility is to do what is right, leaving the results to God while all the time praising Him for who He is.
