—Psalm 35:1-7, 22-28
by: Gabriela Alonzo.
My former employer hired another attorney to represent him in traffic court, saying, “A lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client.” To defend himself in an area outside of his expertise in a case in which it would be impossible for him to be objective would be foolish. How often are we fools that try to come to our own defense, thinking we can wield the necessary objectivity and omniscience. We say we desire justice, but it is often subjective to our emotions and limited perspective. We must pray as David prayed, “Judge me, Lord my God, according to Your righteousness, And do not let them rejoice over me” (v.24). Let God make things right.
