—Hebrews 4:14-5:10
by: Lisa Moore.
Jesus came to this earth in the flesh—fully God and fully man—and died on the cross, shedding His perfect blood for our sin so that all who believe on Him would become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Knowing the suffering that was ahead, Jesus prayed for a way out: “[I]f it be possible, let this cup pass from me,” but ultimately ended His prayer with, “[N]evertheless, not my will but thy will be done.” We are quick to pray for our suffering to be removed, but let us follow Jesus’ example. Our faithful obedience to God in the midst of our tests and trials will lead others to Christ.
